A melancholy, musically wonderful album inspired by the book of Ecclesiastes, Switchfoot’s “Nothing is Sound” also inspired the name of this blog, “Nothing is Sound* (Without God). However, my addition of the asterisks and parentheses hopes to clarify the author’s intention of the book of Ecclesiastes: Everything is meaningless without God. Thus the author hopes the title of this blog does not come off cynical.
The author intends to record his voracious appetite of music, books, and the internet, as a consumer, yet conflictingly reconcile this desire in God.
Joseph is a Christian Chinese American, who spent most of his pre-25 year old life in Southern California, where the weather is weird, the sun is hot, and the mood is materialism. In August of 2009, he arrived in Naval boot camp in Great Lakes, IL; in October 2009, he began his training as a Machinist Mate (Nuclear) in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
